Guns or Privacy?

May 9, 2016 | Gunner Steele

I've often said that the only reason America still exists as a nation is because of the 2nd Amendment. And I still believe that. If it wasn't for the fact that Americans have their own firearms, this nation would've been overtaken forcefully by our metastasized federal government years ago.

But the only reason why the 2nd Amendment still exists, when so much of the rest of the Constitution has been abandoned and shredded, is because Americans have fought diligently for its preservation and for the purity of its meaning.

That's it. If the American people didn't fight for the 2nd Amendment—we simply wouldn't have it anymore. It would've been "interpreted" to mean anything other than what it actually says. You know—like the rest of the Constitution.

So now I want you to read the actual text of the 4th Amendment:

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

Now consider this:
You have no right to not be offended.
You have no right to force Christians to bake a cake for your gay wedding.
You have no right to change the definitions of words to make you happy.
You have no right to force taxpayers to pay for your incompetence or sloth.
You have no right to murder a developing baby in any womb.
You have no right to an education.
You have no right to food at the expense of others.
You have no right to housing.

While some of these things might inherently be good (like food, education, and housing), you and I have no right to them. And the Constitution definitely does not include any of these as rights! Yet, Congress and the American court system have plainly decided that Americans have the right to all of these things.

But remarkably, the Constitution does specifically guarantee American citizens THE RIGHT to to be secure in "their persons, houses, papers, and effects." And THE RIGHT against "unreasonable searches and seizures."

In short, the 4th Amendment guarantees us THE RIGHT to our privacy. And the context is in regards to the government! So while your Dad can walk into your room and look through your closet, your drawers, and take a look at what you've been doing online and on your phone, the government may not do such a thing. It is immoral, unethical, unconstitutional, and ILLEGAL!

But the government is doing it everyday. When it searches through your call logs, legal records, purchase history, smart phone use, travel schedule, etc., it is illegally prying into your person, house, papers, and effects! The Constitution's language couldn't be more clear. And when it performs database searches to learn everything about you with a mouse-click, it is illegally performing an "unreasonable search" against you.

And you know why the government can do this? Because Americans don't care. Because Americans care more about security than they do about Freedom. Because modern Americans are pansies. Wusses. Effeminate.

Benjamin Franklin wrote that, "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." And old Benji was right!

WHAT DOES A WORLD WITHOUT PRIVACY LOOK LIKE?

A world without privacy looks pretty much like what George Orwell said, “If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—forever.” Pretty grim, I know. But true.

We're almost to the point where there is no privacy at all. The government knows and can monitor: who you call, what you say, your text messages, your internet use, every debit or credit purchase you've ever made, your travels, every penny you've ever earned, saved, or spent, and can now even monitor where you are via GPS on your smartphone.

And in those few areas of your life where the government doesn't have access—it is now trying to get it. Legislation has been proposed in numerous states to put GPS trackers on every car under the guise of taxation (to tax the number of miles traveled). But the real purpose is to track you. When technology (i.e. encryption) on smartphones makes hacking impossible for the government, they try to force companies like Apple to give them "backdoor" access.

THE "I'M WITH STUPID" TEST
Have you seen those shirts that say "I'm stupid," and then the other shirt says "I'm with stupid." Then two people wear them and walk around. Well, we all know that our federal government is stupid. So here's the test to see if someone is with the government or not—if anyone says "If you're not doing anything wrong, then you have nothing to worry about." If someone says that, they have failed the test. They're with stupid.

You see, once the government has full access to everything about you, they can control everything about you. The truth is that most people are already controlled to a large extent by their government without even realizing it.

And this is not Freedom.

You see, privacy, and the 4th Amendment are fundamental to your Freedom. Our Founding Fathers understood that. It is a central pillar in protecting the individual from government overreach. And that is why its in the Bill of Rights. Privacy from the government is Constitutional, my friend.

Its time for us to fight for the 4th Amendment in the same way we fight for the 2nd Amendment. Because if we don't, the day will come when Americans will actually have to use the 2nd Amendment for what it was created for—to defend ourselves against the force of our own government against us.

Until Next Monday, I'm yours in Freedom,
Gunner Steele
